Alexander Marchuk (born 1983 in Brest, Belarus) is a painter based in Copenhagen. His practice exists at the intersection of structured planning and intuitive image-making, where visible traces of the process — brush and finger marks, uneven edges, and small imperfections — remain part of the final work. This raw expression relates to a folk-art sensibility that values the human touch over perfection.
Marchuk’s visual language is built around repetition, patterns, and geometric ornamentation. He works with strong, pop-like colors and combines flat color fields with a distinctly handmade aesthetic. Through a systematic yet intuitive process, he creates works in which color, form, and emotion meet, while also reflecting on how contemporary life unfolds within systems of structures, networks, and visual excess.
